IT'S BEEN A WHILE. Happy Fall!

Things have been absolutely crazy this month! I'm excited to say that I've been working very hard writing songs and am slowly completing what will be the track list of A NEW ALBUM. I've applied for several grants, started shopping for studios and getting ready to create something truly special. Every sense I was a wee one, the start of fall has always felt like such a magical time. The leaves are changing and everything is shifting. Anything could happen!

I took a brief but wonderful trip to Ohio at the start of October to play some shows. Now, for those of you who don't know, I am a very proud member of The Woman Songwriter Collective, a group of five individual female songwriters here in the Pioneer Valley who come together to share resources, offer community, play shows together and basically have a wonderful time. I have been having so much fun playing round-style with my ladies here in the Valley that I decided to arrange a lady song circle at one of my favorite coffee shops in Kent Ohio, Scribbles Coffee, with my two favorite Buckeye beauties: Julia Kate Davis and Emma Shepard.
Julia Kate Davis is a unique, bohemian goddess. She blends together folk, jazz and a wee bit of americana in a way that is all her own. She radiates. Many of Julia's songs reference rivers, mountains and other beautiful aspects of nature. When I hear her voice, I feel as though I am looking at the most beautiful landscape.  She recently released an incredible song called "Tree Bones" that really spoke to me. Click here to check it out and to hear more of sweet Julia!
Emma Shepard is an AMAZING songwriter! She is quirky, cute and tells beautiful stories through her songs. Her piano playing is so expressive and her voice is the perfect blend of sweet and striking. Emma released a new E.P this fall called "If You Came Back." I personally like "Broom" the best, which you can check out here.
I'm so happy to report that the evening was a resounding success. I am so lucky to have met these beautiful ladies and look forward to making music with them again!

A few days later, I got the opportunity to play at a wonderful DIY space at a home in Cleveland. I shared the show with four amazing locals.
Braxton Taylor opened up the show with his amazing solo blues performance. When watching Braxton, I felt as though I was sent back in time, watching Jimi Hendrix and Son House's love child playing in that Cleveland basement. Braxton is getting ready to start work on an album, but to hold us over until then, he has a sweet youtube here.
The next performer of the evening was a lovely young fellow named Mike, who performed under the name The Supposed So. Mike has written and self released a huge catalog of music and his songs really are crafted brilliantly. I especially like "High Lo Lodi." Hear him here!
The final performers of the evening were an incredible duo who goes by the name of Between State Lines. Maria's voice is so raspy and sexy and their songs cool, heartfelt and truly special. The bass player was also incredible, talented and played like he felt it.  Please check them out here!

This past weekend was an especially busy one!
I was very surprised and excited to see that I got a write up in the Greenfield Recorder. It was written by an awesome gal named Sheryl Hunter! You can check it out here.

On Friday evening, I was reunited with my best friend Maddie, and her band Street Change for a show at Replay Gear, a music shop in Greenfield that hosts shows in the mysterious back room! It was so great to get to see all of my favorite humans after what feels like an eternity.
Street Change played a wonderful set. They played several songs from what I know will be an amazing second album that is yet to be released. Nate's guitar playing is powerful without being overpowering and his songwriting is truly unique. Tom's bass, guitar and vocals always fall write into place perfectly. And Maddie, my best friend on this great green earth, always leaves me feeling so joyful and proud after watching her perform.
I did get to join Street Change for a song that night! We did a ridiculous version of "You're The One That I Want." It was truly special night. I am also happy to report that we had several disposable cameras floating around the room that night to capture some pretty special moments:

Saturday (last night) I was reunited with my sisters in The Woman Songwriter Collective for a show at the First Church of Northfield. We performed in the round in an astounding, old, beautiful church in a small mountain town. I got to play a piano that was over one hundred and fifty years old! WSC is getting ready to release it's first E.P on December 4th at the Iron Horse. I know it will be a magical evening. We have all grown so much as performers, songwriters and humans. We are very excited to show you what we have been working on and I hope you'll join us!

And finally, this morning, I had the honor of performing at the Rays Of Hope Breast Cancer Walk today in Springfield. A reported FIFTEEN THOUSAND people walked today to end the fight against breast cancer. It was such a beautiful sight to look out and see a sea of pink! I have been performing at this event every year starting back in 2005, and it is such a honor to be asked back again!

It has been an absolutely crazy month and I have been having such a blast! I'm happy to say that I have been playing out at least three nights a week!! I've met so many great musicians in my travels and have had a great time sharing the stage with my friends at home. I look forward to what the future holds! For now, I think I'll head to a blues jam and drink some apple beer! <3
