What a summer! What a summer!
This past Saturday, I was reunited with my Woman Songwriter Collective sister, Lisa Marie Ellingsen. Lisa just finished kicking ass in Nursing School and A NEW ALBUM IS IN THE WORKS. Lisa & I took part in Florence Night Out this year, which is an awesome little festival that takes place in the sleepy, lovely town of Florence. We got to perform at Cafe Evolution, the best little vegan bakery in the Valley as far as I'm concerned. I got to play a beautiful, old upright and even a little guitar for my set. Lisa played afterwards and played some of her originals, which let me tell you, are beautiful pieces of music. Lisa has such a clever way with words. From bank robberies of the Old West, to political disbelief and heartbreak, Miss Ellingsen is a force to be reckoned with. To end the evening, we played a few old blues songs together, including "Trouble In Mind" and "St. James Infirmary." I also had a mind-blowing, Mint Chocolate Chip cupcake.

The next day, I was joined by my BFF Madeline for a show at Java Madness, one of my favorite spots in Rhode Island. We woke up at the ass-crack of dawn to get there for a nice, early noontime set, which was an absolute delight and totally worth waking up super early for! The staff is was so friendly & we both got to enjoy some delicious bagels.
I got to whip out one of my newer guitar songs, "The Road" at both shows this weekend, which felt awesome. Maddie also played a newer tune called "Pile Of Bones" that touches on social anxiety with vivid, creepy, Tim Burton style imagery. It blew me away.
Maddie and I concluded our trip with a super flower child beach adventure. Despite the rain, we jumped right into the ocean! We even got to play some guitar and serenade the disgruntled beach-goers with some Hank Williams. All in all, it was an awesome, fucking day. There is nothing better than getting to share your passion with your best friend. Making music with people you love is such a rewarding and magical experience.
Miss Madeline & her band Street Change will be releasing their sophomore album, "Gone Downtown," on July 11th at the 13th Floor Music Lounge. The show will be absolutely killer! Also performing will be Shanta Paloma, Father Misty and the Big Rock & I'll be playing too!
